October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month
We have been looking into charities/non-profits in order to help fund this growing issue of breast cancer. An educated client ( thanks Eilleen) alluded me to the fact that many of the so-called non-profit agencies are actually not as they appear. After some research, I came across the fact that many of these men and women who are living with breast cancer do not see a dime of this donated money, nor are they even helped by these organizations. Breast Cancer is big business! It is hard to fathom that folks would line their own pockets at the cost of human...and animal lives. So this same beautiful client suggested that we hold the money here and sponsor people suffering from breast cancer through yoga.
During the month of October we are offering FREE Community Yoga to those living with and those who have lived through and those who have lost someone with breast cancer. Please tell your friends, mothers, fathers, co-workers, sisters, brothers, aunts, and uncles to enjoy the healing experience of yoga for free! Community Yoga is Every Friday at 6:30 pm. Everyone is welcome! We encourage the rest of the folks who know or care to actually help fight this disease to donate to this cause, while also enjoying the healing aspects of yoga!

From a Western medical perspective, allergy is an overreaction by the immune system. In NAET®, allergies are viewed from a holistic perspective, based on Oriental Medical principles. An allergy is a condition of unusual sensitivity of one person to one or more substances that may be harmless to the majority of individuals. In the allergic person, the allergic substance (known as an allergen), is viewed by the brain as a threat to the body’s well-being. Therefore, for our purposes, an allergy is defined in terms of what a substance does to the energy flow in the body. Allergies are the result of energy imbalances in the body, leading to a diminished state of health in one or more organ systems.

Community Acupuncture this Saturday!!!!
Community Acupuncture
Saturday, June 26
10am-12pm
$20
Community Acupuncture is an affordable way to receive acupuncture at a fraction of the cost of a typical session. It is done in a community setting, meaning, there is more than one person in a room at a time. Patients remain fully clothed and are treated accordingly.
Many common but difficult to treat conditions and complaints respond to the holistic approach of acupuncture, especially with those whom have found difficulty in easing symptoms with prescription drugs and/or western medicine.
The World Health Organization recognizes (WHO) the use of acupuncture and Chinese herbs in the treatment of a wide variety of medical conditions, such as:
Infections, cold, flu, bronchitis, diabetes, hypoglycemia, asthma, high blood pressure, digestive disorders, IBS, heartburn, tinitus, vertigo, sinusitis/infection, hay fever, eczema, acne, psoriasis, herpes, arthritis, sprains, strains, trigger points, neuralgia, headaches, migraines, sciatica, back pain, chronic and acute pain, stroke, tendonitis, infertility, PMS, endometriosis, obstetrics, anxiety, depression, stress, insomnia, hyperactivity, ADD, ADHD. Other conditions that are commonly treated with Chinese medicine are: Allergies, addictions (including smoking), cardiovascular problems, weight loss, pediatric diseases, postpartum care, geriatric diseases, sexual dysfunction, low energy, migraines, fibroids, and urinary problems.
There has been an increase in the popularity of acupuncture in all levels of society, and it is rapidly moving from the margins into the mainstream. Community acupuncture is one approach of delivering acupuncture that provides resources to individuals who may not have disposable income or health insurance. It reaches out to groups who tend to be under-served by all sectors of the health care system. As acupuncture penetrates the mainstream, there is a growing need for this kind of practice. Almost one quarter of Americans have no access to health insurance; so even with insurance reimbursement, there is limited access to acupuncture. If you have ever been curious about acupuncture, are in need of treatment, or think you can benefit from acupuncture, please feel free to call in advance to reserve a seat, or just drop by.

Kundalini Yoga at a new time!!!
Kundalini Yoga is now at 9:15 am, starting on May 1.
Kundalini Yoga at one time remained a closely guarded secret practiced only by a chosen few. In 1969, however, Yogi Bhajan decided to change this tradition by bringing Kundalini to the West. Yogi Bhajan's reasoning was based on the philosophy that it's everybody's birthright to be "healthy, happy and holy," and he believed Kundalini would help spiritual seekers from all religious paths tap into their greater potential.
The practice of Kundalini Yoga incorporates postures, dynamic breathing techniques, chanting and meditation. Practitioners concentrate on awakening the energy at the base of the spine and drawing it upward through each of the seven chakras. Kundalini Yoga provides a sense of fulfillment, self discovery, and cleanses the body via asana, breath, and vibration.
Kundalini Yoga is a vigorous and energizing practice!

Yin Yoga Workshop May 21 at 6:30!!!!
We are offering a Yin Yoga Workshop on Friday May 21 at 6:30 -8:30 PM. Come join us for this amazing introduction to the beautiful world of Yin Yoga,as Instructor Jim Scully explains the benefits and history, as well as engaging in a full practice. The Yin practice is a series of quiet stationary poses. The Yin practice is designed to work our connective tissues(ligaments and fascia) and to protect the health of our
joints. It nourishes the flow of energy in our bodies through a practice of holding
a series of floor postures for 3 to 5 minutes. Benefits of the practice are increased
flexibility, energy flow and relaxation. The Yin practice is a perfect complement to
the more muscular, movement-oriented practices of yoga. Modern researchers
are also contending that strengthening and stretching connective tissues may be critical for long-term health. The cost is $18 in advance or $20/door. Jim Scully is a RYT with Yoga Alliance and has trained specifically in Yin Yoga with Paul Grilley.

Fundamental Yoga Class every Wednesday with Carolyn!
This is an amazing yoga class for true beginners, as well as the seasoned Yogi/Yogini! The Fundamental Yoga class delves into the art and complexity of each asana (pose), breaking it down piece by piece, layer by layer. The focus is on alignment, correct posture, and technique. This allows the student to understand the pose in depth; structurally, while gaining knowledge of the physiological aspects of a pose! Class begins at 6:30 pm and meets each Wednesday evening thereafter, same time, same place!
